Keep things simple. Exploring SynApp2 is easiest when everything is on your workstation. Once you've gotten your application dialed in, then copy it up to a remote host.

SynApp2 is designed to make deployment of your applications fast and easy. Copy (ftp) a few files to your remote server (FileZilla works great) and you're done.

If you're new to web development, PHP, MySQL, etc., - there are lots of resources to get your workstation setup with: web server software, PHP, and a database engine like MySQL. Virtually all Windows, Linux and Mac systems come with web software pre-installed - you just need to enable it. The installation of various 'stacks' will do that for you, along with setting up PHP, MySQL and phpMyAdmin.

Here are two sources of development stacks that have everything you need to work with SynApp2:

Zend Server Community Edition - http://www.zend.com/en/products/server-ce/
    XAMPP - http://sourceforge.net/projects/xampp/
